There are custom temperature probes built in just like R2 would have, along with a pretty nifty overall temperature gauge. The grill is a converted 55 gallon drum made for well – we guess grilling robots. Convert yours today and let the force be with you – grilling.

Via Pocket-lint

As I write this post the day before, I can tell you that it will be my pleasure to speak to the listeners of the Morning Living show on Martha Stewart Living radio on Tuesday, March 16. See this before the 16th? Tune in tomorrow to hear my tips on pitfalls to avoid in the kitchen design process.

Following is a further collection of my tips to hold disaster at bay as you plan your kitchen design!

1. Identify a trend: I think many of us are aware that trends are something that we see repeatedly in the marketplace. If that is the case, it is most likely that the trend could have a year attached to it down the road as the hot item of that year. When planning a kitchen, made to last for a couple of decades, take care in identifying trends. Planning several trends into your kitchen design will date the kitchen sooner than later!

2. When selecting paint colors for your kitchen, always buy small sample bottles of about 3 to 5 different shades. In my experience it is impossible to select a shade from a little paint chip. You’ll [...]
(click here to continue reading ››)

Available in three models – Neptune, Zeus and the latest Poseidon with a built in media player, the heaters employ carbon fibre heating and offer soft instant heat with the help of replaceable elements that are designed to last at least 5,000 hours. Far infrared electric heaters deliver focused heat, heating you rather than the air while emitting zero CO2 exhaust gases – a clear Eco advantage over gas patio heaters. Used worldwide in hospitals for many problems, this carbon fibre heating is the most natural, versatile, and healthy form of heat, helping to maintain body vitality and increase metabolic function without side effects.

All three Chillchaser heaters use a standard 220 – 240V electric supply, so there no heavy gas cylinders to carry or need to refill. Simply plug in to a suitable 230V weatherproof outdoor socket or PowerSpike IP55 extension lead. Other common features include - contemporary slimline design - robust all metal construction - up to 4 meters effective heating area at 110° angle - safety tip-over and auto reset thermal cut-off devices - heavy base with roller and grab [...]
(click here to continue reading ››)

There are basically two different types of overlays.

Standard-overlay means you see the frame around the door and full-overlay means that the door covers the frame. In essence the door is larger on a full overlay cabinet.

Thermal-Foil: Thermal-foil is a vinyl that is applied over a MDF (medium density fiberboard) door using a heat process. It is used for white or off-white doors. It is very easy to clean and is durable.

MDF Door: MDF doors are made of medium density fiberboard, which can be routed into a raised panel design. They can be thermal-foiled, stained or painted in a solid color.

The advantage of choosing [...]
(click here to continue reading ››)

The latter is cheaper and is less influenced by weather conditions.

The humidity and temperature outside have an effect on your solid wooden kitchen doors, but the biggest influence comes from the changes in temperature and humidity in the kitchen.

Veneer can also give a more uniform look to the fronts (if this is what you want) as the pieces of wood used are cut from a larger piece in thin strips to cover all the doors.

Wood itself is available in all kinds of colors, but it can also be glossed, painted, colour washed or waxed to give it the finish you prefer. Look at the pictures on this site and on the Internet for more ideas and examples.

Cabinet Woods

Pine: Has a casual, rustic look, some graining, color variation and knotholes. It is the softest of cabinet woods, so hinges may need to be tightened periodically as they tend to pull out of the wood after use.

Oak: Has a casual look, a lot of graining and an even color tone when stained. Wood is a natural product and prone to changes in temperature and humidity and needs a lot of care, but laminate only needs to be wiped clean occasionally.

Laminate doors suffer from a lot less wear and tear than laminate countertops and should stay looking good for a long time.

Glass

Large expanses of wood or laminate in a kitchen can look good sometimes but if you want to break up the monotony, glass doors can be [...]
(click here to continue reading ››)
