Retro Condiment Caddy – Ketchup and Mustard Holders

21OUeFDTJ3L._SL500_AA200_.jpg

We’ve been grilling all summer, and we’re always fetching the ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Why fetch when you can have someone caddy? The set contains: salt shaker, pepper shaker, ketchup dispenser, mustrad dispenser, rack. The mustard/ketchup squeeze bottles are plastic and 7 1/2″ H with screw tops – classic. The shakers are glass with stainless steel tops 3 7/8″ H. There is of course the caddy – a metal rack and you can store napkins between the shakers and bottles.

Efficient showerheads and toilets can save you water

showerheadThe average U.S. home sees peak water consumption during the summer, as Americans turn on the taps and spigots more frequently to do things like water their lawns and flower beds and fill their swimming pools.

Since summer is also the time when droughts peak and municipalities nationwide impose water restrictions, you’ll want to watch your water use. Our latest reports on  toilets and showerheads (available to subscribers) can help you find products that not only are water misers but also work well and look sharp. The map shows the latest U.S. Seasonal Drought Outlook from the National Weather Service.

A Environmental Protection Agency-commissioned study by Aquacraft, a water-engineering-and- management firm, showed that toilet flushing accounted for almost 30 percent of water use in a typical home. Toilets installed before 1995 are water hogs, using 3.5 gallons or more per flush. But installing a 1.28-gpf toilet that meets the EPA’s WaterSense program’s limit would save you more than 4,000 gallons of water per year.

Hoods and Vents

You can cook without a hood or a vent, but moisture, grease, odors, and heat from cooking on a cooktop can damage the rest of your kitchen.

Also, steam from cooking condenses on windows and walls, and in some cases carbon monoxide from the burning of gas can build up.

A range or cooktop hood or vent will remove most if not all of the above problems.

Hood Styles

Hood choices range from basic ductless wall-mount units, to systems with lights, timers, and easy-clean surfaces.

You can buy hidden slim-line hood designs which are concealed under cabinets which slide out when in use. Another kind can be used as a shelf for microwaves with the venting fans underneath. Yet another kind can incorporate a wall-mounted microwave above the range.

Hoods come in many styles, stainless steel, tile, or paneling that matches the cabinetry, for example.

The hood or vent should be at least as wide as the range top.

Hood components

Most hoods have a fan which moves stale air from inside the hood to the outside through ducts. There are two types of fans; axial, which have blades similar to ordinary fans, and centrifugal, which look like a wheel and can move more air [...]
